Prozac (Fluoxetine Hydrochloride) is a popular treatment for depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorders (OCD) and eating disorders. Prozac is classified as a selective seretonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). It can be used alone or with other antidepressants. Fluoxetine has been proven effective in the treatment of alcoholism, anxiety disorders, including sociophobia; diabetic neuropathy, affective, including bipolar disorder; dysthymia, autism, panic attacks, premenstrual syndrome, narcolepsy, catalepsy, obstructive sleep apnea syndrome, kleptomania, schizophrenia, and schizoaffective disorders.
